Haul Out The Holly

Only 3 more days 'til Christmas! Yay! I am SO ready to be off work and spend some quality time with family and my precious dog. Almost there! So before we dash off for the holidays, I thought I would show you how we decorated our house for Christmas this year.

First up, our kitchen table centerpiece! This only set us back one measly buckaroo. The ornaments I got at an ornament swap a couple weeks ago (hit the jackpot on that one!), the greenery I clipped from the bottom of our Christmas tree, and the berries I cut from a tree we have in our backyard. The only thing I paid for in this arrangement was the vase, which I got for $1 at a yard sale. I love it!

Next is our Christmas card wreath, which is one of my favorite new additions! This was a really easy craft I saw on Pinterest. All I needed was an embroidery hoop, ribbon, and small clothespins.

I hot glued the clothespins in alternating directions on the embroidery hoop, and then hung it on the wall with some festive ribbon. I went with red gingham since I loved how it looked in the inspiration photo.

So instead of our fridge looking like crazytown, we get to stare at this cute display everyday!

Moving into our living room, you'll see our stockings hanging underneath a shelf, which is acting as our fantle (faux mantle).

I love how we have a stocking for Doc this year, though there's no way the big rawhide we got him will fit in that tiny thing! Oh and please ignore the fact that our stockings are in desperate need of some ironing. I just didn't get around to it, so they have been nice and wrinkly all season. :)

Our coffee table centerpiece is also something I threw together with things we already had on hand. (Trivia tidbit: The taller candle is the unity candle from our wedding!)

In our kitchen I have on display one of my favorite Christmas gifts I've ever received. My boss from when I interned at The Georgia Club gave it to me, and it says "The Dawgs were nestled all snug in their beds, while visions of bowl games danced in their heads." Is that not perfect, or what? It kind of got lost in the sea of boxes from our move last Christmas, but I made sure it was front and center in our kitchen this year.

And last but not least, I wanted to show y'all a final photo of our Christmas tree with all the presents wrapped underneath it. I finally put the finishing touches on everything this past weekend before our Christmas date night. I can't wait to give them away and see everyone's faces when they open them!

Enjoy the rest of your Thursday! I am signing off for a few days to soak up this time with family and dear friends, and I hope you get to do the same! Most of all, I hope you can take time to reflect on the real reason why we celebrate: the birth of Jesus and the blessed redemption he brought us. Merry Christmas, everyone!

Our Christmas Card 2011

Christmas card envelopes have been stuffed and stamped, so now it's time to show this baby off on the 'ol bloggy blog! Here it is, our 2011 Christmas card!

And since I am semi-obsessed with anything candy-cane striped, I couldn't help but show y'all the back of the card as well:

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas from the Fenton family!

Christmas Card Photo Shoot

Remember when I mentioned we did a double photo shoot with our friends Sam + Amanda back in November? Well, these are the lovely photos that Amanda took of our family! We had a great time walking around the Augusta Canal with them and couldn't be happier with how the pictures turned out. Here are a few of our favorites:

P.S. Our Christmas card photos are sprinkled in there somewhere. Can you guess which ones we picked? Come back tomorrow to find out! :)

Christmas Date Night

This weekend Kyle and I continued our tradition of going on a Christmas date, and apparently continued the tradition of eating at P.F. Changs on our Christmas date. We've eaten at P.F. Changs three out of our six Christmases together since we started dating, so I guess you could say we have a thing for those lettuce wraps! In all honestly eating there was a dumb idea this year since the P.F. Changs in Augusta is right next to the mall, and hello this weekend was the weekend before Christmas! Thank goodness for the $25 gift card we had that helped us turn a blind eye to all that craziness.

Before we left, we grabbed a quick photo in front of our tree. We had to sit since I didn't have a high enough place to put my camera for a self-timed photo. You can see below Kyle's amusement that my self-timer always takes 8 photos in a row. ;)

After a delicious dinner at P.F. Changs, we walked across the way to the Barnes & Noble at the Mall to grab some Starbucks to charge us up for the second half of the evening. But first I had to pause and get a photo with the gorgeous Christmas tree they have set up outside the Mall. It's the closest thing we get to the Opryland Hotel around here!

With a Caramel Brulée Latte in hand, we headed out to Evans to drive around some nice neighborhoods and check out everyone's Christmas lights. It was fun to get some ideas for when we have a house of our own one day!

We ended the evening by going to see New Years Eve, which can be summed up in one word: Meh. Definitely not as good as Valentine's Day. It was cute enough, though, so hopefully I'm not being too much of a scrooge about it! ;)

Up next, our Christmas decorations and pictures from our Christmas Card photo shoot!

Happy Birthday, Pops!

Today is my Dad's birthday! Just a mere week away from being a Christmas baby. :)

Happy Birthday to the most generous, selfless, hard-working man I know! I love you, Daddy, and can't wait to be home for Christmas!
