Wedding Week: Jamaican Paradise

We spent five days at Sandals Montego Bay in Jamaica for our honeymoon (yes, just like Michael Scott and Jan), and there's not a day that goes by we don't miss it.

I have to preface this post with a semi-sad story. Sunday morning as we were getting our stuff together to head to the airport, I realized my digital camera was nowhere to be found. By the time we figured out who had it, Kyle and I were already through security at Hartsfield-Jackson and we had to resort to disposable cameras. And since they were a thousand million dollars at the airport, we only bought two of them. I was soooo sad about that since I love taking pictures and lots of them, and I especially wanted good pictures of this milestone trip. But I'm just glad we have pictures at all. So I apologize in advance for the poor quality, we just had to push the button and hope for the best!

We arrived at the resort on Sunday afternoon, and were surprisingly upgraded to an ocean view room. Pretty sweet!

After we got settled in it didn't take long for us to get a fruity drink in our hand and find some food. I highly recommend all-inclusive resorts just for that reason! The next day we hit up the beach and explored around the resort, satisfied with catching up on some much needed R&R.

Monday night we ate dinner at The Royal Thai, which was actually on its own private island at Sandals Royal Caribbean. Another great thing about Sandals is that you have full access and privileges to any of their other close-by resorts, and the Royal Caribbean happened to only be 8 minutes away from us, so we took advantage of that.

After dinner we crashed Royal Caribbean's White Party they were having on their main resort. We decided to stay for the show and dancing even though we didn't blend in at all with my yellow dress and Kyle's striped shirt. But it was totally worth it. These guys were amazing at what they could do on those stilts!

This is the only photo I have from Tuesday, and this is us at dinner at the Stewfish Restaurant, which was right on the beach. It was fun to dine with the sand between our toes!

Wednesday we went on our excursion, which was a dune buggy safari through the Jamaican mountains. This got both our votes for favorite part of the trip. Kyle made sure we got the first dune buggy in line so we didn't have to go slow, and he certainly got his wish. A few times I thought we were going to flip over! It was neat to see the ocean view from the top of the mountain, and to learn about Jamaica's use of bamboo, Blue Mountain coffee, and see these unique Jamaican plants that would open and close at the touch of your hand.

The rest of the afternoon we relaxed on the beach and then had dinner at The Oleander Room, where I proceeded to eat the best lobster tail of my life.

Thursday morning we had breakfast in bed, which came included with our honeymoon package. Man I miss that unlimited food! The rest of the day we took advantage of all the water sports, including sea kayaking and water skiing.

Friday morning we were at the Jamaica airport at 9:30 a.m. sharp for our scheduled 12:30 flight, but our plane didn't take off until 6 p.m. that evening. Yep, you read that right. We spent 8 1/2 hours at the airport because of bad weather back in Atlanta. And we were so ill because it was such a gorgeous day in Jamaica and our resort was literally 10 minutes away. But alas, we tried to keep from complaining because we had just been blessed with the most amazing honeymoon, and at least Kyle and I were together. I don't know if we'll go back to that specific Sandals resort (because of its proximity to the airport), but we're looking forward to the day when we can return to a Sandals somewhere!
