2012 Movies I Can't Wait to See
If you're a list freak like me, you probably have a list for silly things like baby names you love, vacations you would like to take if your husband would hurry up and graduate PT School, desserts you want to make you found on Pinterest, etc. This post is one such list, of the movies-I-absolutely-cannot-wait-to-see-this-year persuasion. Let's see if we list any of the same ones. :)
1. The Hunger Games (March 23)
Is an explanation really needed for this? If you are the one person on the planet who hasn't read this series, please drop everything you're doing and get your hands on these books. I promise you'll read them all in one day. :)
2. The Lucky One (April 20)
Another Nicholas Sparks novel-turned-movie? Zac Efron as the male lead? Um, yes please!
3. What to Expect When You're Expecting (May 18)
Pregnant or not, I believe every woman on the planet has heard of the book What to Expect When You're Expecting. I never would have guessed they would base a movie off of it, but from the preview, this looks really fun and hilarious!
4. Snow White and the Huntsman (June 1)
It seems like the story of Snow White is all over the place right now, what with Once Upon A Time on ABC and Mirror Mirror coming out in March, and then this movie in June. But Snow White and the Huntsman looks way more promising than Mirror Mirror, taking more of a Gladiator angle on the classic story. Plus Chris Hemsworth is the Huntsman. Done and done.
5. Brave (June 22)
Pixar movies rarely disappoint, and they usually find a way to tug at your heartstrings (I STILL haven't recovered from Toy Story 3). The story behind Brave looks like a new direction for Pixar, so I'm interested to see it!
6. The Dark Knight Rises (July 20)
Seven years later, this trilogy is finally coming to a close. It's weird to think I was a junior in high school when the first movie came out. I've loved Christopher Nolan's take on Batman thus far. I'm not a comic book nerd or anything, but I think these movies tell great stories. I'm excited to see the conclusion!
7. Skyfall (November 9)
Not really sure what this movie will be about, or if an official trailer has been released yet. But whatever, it's a Bond movie. Of course I'm gonna go see it!
8. Breaking Dawn: Part 2 (November 16)
I know it might be a sin to say so, but I was a little hesitant to put this movie on the list since I was so disappointed by Breaking Dawn: Part 1. There is a lot more to the plot in the second half of the story though, so that could be a redeeming quality. Either way I'm probably gonna go see it!
9. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (December 14)
OMG y'all don't even know how much I loved The Lord of the Rings trilogy when it first came out ten years ago! I know that makes me sound like a huge dork, but what can I say? I'm a fan of epic stories. Even though Peter Jackson isn't exactly known for his brevity, I'm surprised he's breaking up The Hobbit into two movies. Hopefully it will be worth the wait in the end!
10. The Great Gatsby (December 25)
The Great Gatsby was one of my favorite books we had to read in high school, so I'm excited to see this more modern adaptation of the novel. No official movie poster or trailer out yet, but from the cast alone this movie looks promising!
So there you have it, the 10 movies I can't wait to see in 2012. If you've made it this far in the post, congratulations! What movies are on your list to see this year? Did I leave off any good ones? Let me know in the comments below!

I actually hadn't heard about most of these, so thanks for this list!! (I am a list-freak myself). Because I seem to live at the hospital, let me know if any of these are a "must see" ... i love a good movie!
ReplyDeleteYeah LA thanks for the list. I rarely know what movies are in theaters. Now I am going to have to go see most of these. Maybe we can double date with you in Kyle on the ones that come out after y'all come home. Well, except for Twilight. Alan draws the line there.
