DIY Spring/Summer Wreath

This is one of those times when I actually made something I pinned on Pinterest! Thanks to this pin, I was inspired to spruce up our front door with a little spring/summer decor. Here's how I made it in case you want to make one of your own.

The supplies:
Grapevine wreath - $2.99
Forsythia pick - $2.99
Wooden letter - $2.99
Craft paint (had on hand)
Hot glue gun (had on hand)

I know it's weird that all the supplies were $2.99, but I got it all at Michael's and I think I used a coupon for a few of the things (I made this wreath a while back so I don't remember).

First, I painted the wooden letter with a few coats of craft paint. I chose green so it would pick up on the green leaves in the forsythia.

While the paint was drying, I removed the individual stems from the forsythia pick and began tucking them into the grapevine wreath.

I kept going until half of the wreath was covered with forsythia. They tucked into the wreath pretty nicely, so I didn't have to hot glue any of them in place. But if you're a little more OCD about things like that, then you might want to hot glue a few of the looser ones.

After that, it was a little bit of a challenge to hot glue the wooden letter in place, since it didn't exactly lay flat on the wreath. Eventually I got it to stay though, and voilĂ ! The final result:

I added some white polka dots to the letter to make it more visually appealing, and simply because I'm obsessed with polka dots. I love how it turned out!

So there you have it! A really easy and cheap spring/summer DIY project. Have you made anything you pinned from Pinterest lately? If you want more wreath inspiration, be sure to check out my No More Nekked Door pinboard!

  1. Your wreathe is a-door-able!! Ha!! Ha!! But, seriously, though, I'm glad that you enjoy different kinds of crafts and making things. And, when you move back to Atlanta, I'm going to teach you how to sew!! Love, Mom
