Perusing for a Puppy

We've got a crate problem. An empty crate problem.

You see, Kyle and I have wanted a dog for a long time, and things are finally lining up for it to happen. When Kyle found this good deal for a dog crate on eBay a couple of weeks ago, he seized the opportunity and ordered it.

But now we are realllly sad that there's no precious pup to put inside it. What a tease! But the good news is that according to our ideal timing, we can officially start our search for Weimaraner puppies right about now! We've already covered a lot of ground looking online and making some phone calls, but sometimes word of mouth can be the best thing.

So if you know of any quality Weimaraner breeders in Georgia, let us know. Or if you have a Weim yourself and don't mind sharing where you got it, let us know about that too! We are looking for an AKC-registered silver male, preferably with a sweet face like this. :)

Thanks so much y'all!

Wedding Dress Wednesday {Vol. 3}

I know I'm a day late, but boy do I have a gorgeous dress to show you! I was doing my regular photog blog stalking, when I came across this delightful wedding shot by Aaron Delesie. The big bow, the shoes, the lace...it's all so perfect and lovely for a wedding look. But alas, I have no idea who the dress designer is! Anybody got any ideas?

XOXO,

Thursday Update + New Look

Hey sweet things! How do you like the new look? [Click on the post title to check it out, all you Google Reader subscribers! ;)] You might have noticed that I've been playing around with a few different backgrounds lately, but I finally settled on this one from Shabby Blogs. I was looking for something "porch-ish" and that wasn't too busy. I found just that and love it! I also switched out the header image and title font, which I'm pretty pleased with as well. Let me know your thoughts, if you have any at all!

Ok, so two things you need to check out this week:

1. My sister started ANOTHER blog (ambitious, I know!) called The Bradford Pair. This one will obviously be more of a personal narrative than her cooking blog, A Cook's Connection. I can't wait to read more, seesy!

2. Julie over at The Smitten Mintons is hosting a Target Gift Card giveaway! Who doesn't want that? Get your keesters over there before midnight tomorrow to be eligible to win!

Stay tuned for a spring-themed Fab Find Friday here tomorrow. With all this warmer weather lately, I just couldn't help it! Have a blessed Thursday everyone!

A Crown of Wisdom

Proverbs 15:22
"Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed."

I think today of all days, we can especially benefit from listening to those who have gone before us in the journey of love and marriage. This lady cracks me up! Skip to 2:25 for the really sweet part if you must.

And to those who have gone before me in my family, I could never thank you enough for your shining example of what a Christ-centered, beautiful marriage looks like. I love you with all of my heart.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

Wedding Dress Wednesday {Vol. 2}

Welcome to the second edition of WDW! I came across Heidi Elnora's 2011 Collection over on Ashley Baber's blog this week, and I instantly fell in love with pretty much all of her dresses. However, this little number especially stood out to me, sweetly called the Katie Grace, perfect for a Southern wedding.

Here's a few fun facts about the designer, Heidi. She was on Season 2 of Project Runway, and even though she didn't win, I'd say she's doing quite well for herself! Her gowns start at $1500 measly bones. Sheesh. She also has connections to the Peach State, as she attended SCAD and now has a bridal boutique in Atlanta. I'd love to stop by just to see these gorgeous gowns in person! But since this might be as close as I get to doing that, I've got one final treat for y'all. Check out this "Behind the Seams" video of the 2011 collection photo shoot:

Hope you enjoyed your Wednesday afternoon distraction. :)

2011 Vision Board

I finally finished my Vision Board! Yay! I got the idea to make one from the ever-inspiring Lara Casey, and I'm so glad I did.

It’s been said that we overestimate what we can do in a day, but underestimate what we can do in a year.

I know one month is already in the books for 2011, but it took me a while to prayerfully consider these goals and I kinda didn't start until mid-January. Oops. So here's my vision for the eleven remaining months in 2011 (click on the photo for the bigger, better version):

  • I'm participating in Beth Moore's Siesta Scripture Memory Challenge, which consists of memorizing 24 Bible verses (that you pick yourself) throughout the year. (It's not too late to join in, click here to read the instructions if you're interested!)

  • Concerning marriage, I'm praying for deeper love and deeper intimacy. I want to earnestly seek to be the best wife I can be for Kyle. I think my favorite photo in the board is of the couple sitting on the bench and just soaking up the beauty of the ocean together. Being still before the majesty of the Lord. That's my prayer for us this year.

  • I want to bake a pie! Like a legit, blueberry pie with a lattice crust type thing. And I know you must be asking yourself, did she really have to prayerfully consider that goal? And the answer is most definitely yes! Anything involving made-from-scratch baking and me needs some prayer!

  • I want to take better care of myself, which means things like eating more fruits/vegetables, making a point to exercise everyday, going to bed earlier, etc.

  • I want to learn how to be a better listener. I want to surround myself with things that inspire me--spiritually, professionally, mentally, and creatively.

  • I want to get better at making menu plans and spending less money at the grocery store. Which means tackling the daunting task of couponing--I hope to figure it out!

  • I know the Lord has placed a desire in my heart to be a photographer. There is something in me that just comes alive whenever I'm taking pictures. I love it. But there needs to be much prayer and planning before I actively pursue a business, so this year I want to learn as much as I can about photography--the technical things, business & marketing things, legal things, just prepare the heck outta myself for my (desired) future photog shindig!

  • Most of all, I want this to be the year that I choose to believe God. Not just believe IN Him. That part is simple. But to believe Him for BIG things. For every thing. I refuse to be paralyzed by fear in my faith. I know I will not be perfect in this, and will most certainly fail at times. But I'm making a commitment to complete Beth Moore's Bible study, Believing God, and I'm so excited to see the ways God will stretch me and challenge me through it!

    "All a person’s ways seem pure to them,
    but motives are weighed by the LORD.
    Commit to the LORD whatever you do,
    and he will establish your plans."

    Proverbs 16:2-3

    What about you? Did anyone else make a vision board for 2011? Do share, I'd love to see it!

    Big Day on Campus

    Yesterday was a busy day. If you haven't heard already, the Medical College of Georgia, where I work and Kyle goes to PT school, officially changed its name to Georgia Health Sciences University. And with a new name comes a new look on the Web, as we bloggers well know.

    So I'd like to point out the brilliant work the folks in my division have put into transforming the home page from this:

    To this:

    Beautiful, isn't it? I love me a good Extreme Home Page Makeover! But the work has only just begun for our office. I'm helping to fix errors that occurred on our web pages during the migration to the new CMS, and changing instances of MCG to GHSU in the content whenever I see them.(Geek alert) I even had a dream in HTML the other night! Not kidding. Yikes. So that will explain the lack of blog posts this week, by the end of the day I'm flat tired of staring at a computer and have other important stuff to do like pretend to feed my husband good food. So my life has been lately. :)

    Love y'all!

    Wedding Dress Wednesday {Vol. 1}

    New tradition alert! I present to you Wedding Dress Wednesday. Pretty self-explanatory. :D

    I know you're probably thinking, Geez, this chick is obsessed with alliteration and days of the week. And right you are!

    And you're probably also thinking, Why is she looking at wedding dresses when she's already married? Stuck in the past much? And the answer is: HELLO, I am a girl! I will never tire of looking at wedding dresses. They are just too pretty to ignore. And this doesn't make the beautiful gown I donned on my wedding day any less special, and in fact only confirms how perfect it was in every way. And perhaps a bride-to-be will someday stumble across my blog and find her perfect dress, too.

    So without further ado, the debut dress of WDW:

    The Alce by Pronovias. Isn't she a beauty? I love the floaty and ethereal look. The perfect combo of tulle and lace. Did anyone else wear a similar dress on their wedding day? Or what wedding dresses are you loving right now? (You know you're looking at them!).
